Pure imagination by sweetnvicious Pure imagination by sweetnvicious
New year - new projects...

This is my first ink drawing that I've ever made. It's no big deal, just some random stuff that popped up in my head as I was drawing it, but - there's always a "but"... BUT it did get my ideas running wild! So now I have many ideas that I can't wait to create! :)

You can read more about about this drawing in my art blog! Thanks for checking this out! :)

Random art of mine...

Great work!

It is always harder to draw out of imagination, but it always brings out the best! :D
There are flower shaped fireworks, a leaf shaped lip and even a guitar somewhere there

Wow, thank you so much! It means a lot coming from you - one of the artists that I admire the most here on DA! You're probably the first one that noticed the guitar , by the way! :)

I don't actually. I just copy stuff and don't have imagination. It's a true and sad fact.

You don't "just copy". You make it sound like it's so easy, hun! Anybody can't pull off drawing portraits just like that so heads up! Don't think so little of your amazing talent!!

but I still just kinda copy...not like the easy way but I have a reference where I can look at. That what you did was just sitting down with a paper and a pen and start drawing whatever comes to your head. That's what I'm saying with this. I know it's not "easy" to draw portraits but I wish I could just sit down with a pen and paper and do whatever comes to my head and that it looks like your illustration here. That's what I wanted to say. Believe me, I tried it a lot but I just sit here with a blank imagination. I'm not even kidding. I take my notebook and pen with me and I open it and just stare at it and feel totally lost without the internet to get a reference of some sort. It's really sad.

Oh, I hope you don't think that I can just take a sketch pad and a pen and something brilliant will come out on that paper. Oh, no, no, no, missy! Geez, sometimes I do get these super awesome creative ideas in my head, but when I try to get them out of me on paper...they turn out like something a 4-year-old would've made (no offense to any 4-y.o!). I get your point though. The more I sometimes want to be creative and create my own stuff, without using reference pics, the more it blocks in my head. So I just simply turn to the good old reference pics. Ain't nothing wrong with that, though. If anything, it gives you a lot of training! :) Hey, gotta look at the positiva sides of things! I mean, look at your latest portraits! I hope you do realize how much progress you've done with them!!

Aw, thank you so much hun!! There's just a lit of "me" in this drawing. I know it's not a big piece if art, but it's has personal meaning and I had a hell of a lot of FUN making it! I felt like a kid again; drawing like there are no right or wrongs!

as much as i love drawing portraits (and believe me i love nothing more than getting lost in the finer details) sometimes i feel restricted by having to depicate everything inch by inch. first you strive for a likeness, then try and put a bit of the 'person' in it and then neaten up the finer points.... jeesh tired yet?? i know sometimes i sure am and then a piece like what you have created here crops up. something so unexpected and fresh... it reminds you why we do what we do.

every now and then we need to let go, let the art take its own form and we can just sit and enjoy the ride at our finger tips :)

You are so right Shell and I completely understand what you mean about feeling restricted when working on some drawings. So yeah, this drawing was liberating and it made me realize that heck - I'm gonna do whatever I want this year when it comes to art! I'm gonna try hard to get out of my comfort zone! In fact, I was talking to my dad about it (he's an artist too and has a DA account) and he's REALLY good with oil painting. I really want to do more painting and get into acrycils and oil. I've just never felt like I have enough skills when it comes to using those materials, whereas my dad pertty much was born with brushes in his hand... So today he promised me to guide me through my next oil or acrylic projects. In fact, he suggested we'd do one together, so he even bough a canvas today! I'm just so excited about this project! I've never done anything like this with him before! Also, it'll be another thing out of my artistic comfort zone. Oh wow, look at me ramble here. I'm just really thrilled about this idea and I had to share it with you!!

ok firstly, it is so mega cool that your dad is an artist too :) it really runs in your veins then missy! (so remember this will be used against you whenever you doubt your amazing skills so be warned!)
secondly, i now have a vision of this baby with a salvador dali like moustache holding paint brusheds in my head.... so any weird dreams i have tonight i will have you to thank 0_O lol!

lastly... HOW FREAKING COOL IS THIS!!!!!!! :) it's like your dad passing you the torch or in this case the paint brushes!!! so excited to hear about/see this in the making/once it is finished!!! :)

(oh and *ahem* ramble away... it's not like i am one to talk... *ahem*)

Oh, I love the idea of baby Dalí. Although I do hope you'll skip the moustache...unless you're aiming for a freaky baby. Speaking of Dalí, have you seen the movie Robert Pattisnon made about him? I's really good...I think . I don't remember much, but maybe it could inspired you further on this baby Dalí idea?

Yes, daddy passing on the torch. I feel no pressure - noooo... (YES, I do). Oh, it'll be fun though. He just reminded me about it today when we spoke on the phone. I'm glad to see him eager about painting again, as he hasn't painted in a while. I think he wants to start this weekend and if we do - I will keep you updated with pics! =)
